This was my first official weekend as "tasoni" at our new church, and it was a full one! We had services Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It was exhausting and surprising satisfying. There were, of course, highs and lows.
Tasoni Highs!
1. Our daughter RAN to her newly-bearded father in the airport without any hesitation. Tasoni Mission #1 Accomplished!
2. Abouna made a *very* special hard-to-come-by request for Friday dessert. I found the ingredients and made it! He loved it and had seconds!! Tasoni Mission #2 Accomplished!
3. Saturday afternoon one of the kids of the church came and sat next to me and said, "You know what! That girl over there is Abouna's daughter! Can you believe it!" Tasoni Mission #3 Accomplished! Is there anything better than being so normal that people don't know that you're Tasoni :D?
4. My daughter was completely exhausted by Saturday afternoon and collapsed on a pew where a deacon from our new church tenderly covered her with a tunic. I am so thankful to God for these very small expected-to-go-unnoticed gestures of love that this congregation gives us.
5. Sunday afternoon some members of the congregation went out for fro-yo. You know, one of those places with all the sprinkles you want. There I had this sudden free feeling with no worries, no stress, just trusting God and enjoying the moment.
Tasoni Lows...
I broke Priest's Wife's Cardinal Rule to not bring up the "m" word. Sigh. I guess some mistakes you have to make yourself...

I'm guessing that the forbidden word starts with "m" and ends with "oney"? :) It's hard not to talk about it because it's such a part of our lives and it's only natural that we talk about gas prices and stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteMy posts on the subject are in the comments on the Cardinal Rule post. I've only been doing it for... 10 years now? I still continue to learn new things that I should/should not do and I usually do blog about them.
Right... along those same lines: politics. Loved your recent post (http://grace-filled.net/?p=3264). Another one of those supposedly taboo things. As if we don't all have different opinions anyway.
Delete:) It's kind of funny that I'm a Lutheran pastor's wife and most of the people I hang out with online are conservative Catholics -- a couple even let me into their super secret Facebook group because I can talk church with them in a way that is different and gives them a perspective on what their priests go through.
DeleteAs for that post, I wanted to have the Obama sticker on my site but I didn't really want to get into a fight over it and having the sticky post was the easiest way to do it. I'm sure that some of the Quick Takes people avoid my blog like nothing else but others have actually told me that they love Obama and are happy that I'm being vocal about where I stand.
I love the sprinkles image. Glad to hear you sounding so happy!
ReplyDeleteThanks :). Hope you're feeling the joy these days, too!
