- I Plead Innocent! Don't Kill Me!
Undoubtedly, some of you thought I was exaggerating when I wrote about how anything I write could be an excuse to kill me. I'm certain many of you thought, "Where does she think she lives? A third world country?"
I may live in the best country on earth (apologies to Canada), but I do often visit a third world country. And if I happen to be even vaguely unconnected to some controversial film, I may have to fear for my life and not be able to visit my own country (again despite the fact that I had nothing to do with said film). Yes, you read that correctly.
Read and weep.
P.S. I have met and spoken to this bishop face to face, and he is an angel of peace.
P.P.S. As I hit "publish," I wonder again... will this rather undefined post lead to my demise? I can't help but wonder and wonder and second guess. BUT God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Titus 1:7)
I'm up waiting to see if an online friend's daughter is getting her donor liver so I was checking my feed and found this.
ReplyDeleteI think there's the temptation on my part to tell you to pray about it but that would be a platitude and one that would probably cause me to facepalm if it was directed at me. It's a legit fear and one that I believe is very real for you, given the things that are happening in that third world country. So I'm going to just sit here quietly and pray that this post doesn't negatively affect you in any way.
Weird, I just read this story myself, and here you are talking about it! Well, we can't be afraid to publish (on a semi-anonymous blog) a post describing something that's happening in the news. (...Though maybe an offensive movie insulting the VIProphet of one of the world's major religions that has responded violently in the past we should think twice about.)
ReplyDeleteNow you don't even have to do anything wrong to be arrested. You don't even have to know what it is you're doing.

Let's pray for these children.
I know. A mutual friend posted this on FB the other day. I should write a response, but to be honest it just makes me want to curl up in a ball and cry. Yet "I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living" (Psalm 27:13 NIV).
